Cold Lake athletes medal in four summer sports

Over the past month, 4 Wing athletes competed in the Canadian Armed Forces national triathlon championships and CAF Prairie Region championships in ball hockey, slo-pitch and golf. Highlights are as follows:

National Triathlon

Olympic distance:

Capt Sarah Graves (Wing Ops ATC): Time 2:27:34. Silver medal for CAF Open Women. Second overall Women (Civilian and Military), First in F25-29 age group (Civilian and Military). Winner of Most Improved award.

Maj Dominik Rudecki (1 Dental Unit): Time 2:20:12 16th for CAF Open Men. Sixth in M35-39 Age Group (Civilian and Military).

Sprint distance:

Capt Marla Haring (410 Squadron): Time 1:18:20. Fourth Place for CAF Open Women. First in F25-29 Age Group (Civilian and Military).

Female Team Award: Prairie Region. (Top two Olympic distance times plus top sprint distance time). Capt Graves’s time qualified, along with Andrea Bowman (Edmonton) and Stephanie Smith (Calgary).

Prairie Region Slo-Pitch

Cold Lake Men: Gold medal, final game score Cold Lake 9, Edmonton 4.

Cold Lake Women: Gold medal, final game score Cold Lake 24, Edmonton 9.

Prairie Region Golf

Sgt Sherri Schwemler (AETE): Gold medal, women’s individual.

Cold Lake team: Silver medal.

Prairie Region Ball Hockey

Cold Lake: Silver medal, final game score Moose Jaw 4, Cold Lake 1.
