4 Wing’s Terry Fox event supports cancer research

4 Wing will again show its cancer-fighting spirit when the annual Terry Fox Works event takes place on Friday, September 15.

Activities start at the Col JJ Parr Sports Centre 8:30 am with the Pull-the-Pumper and Tug-o’-War competitions.

As always, members can raise funds for the cause and show solidarity with cancer survivors by having their heads shaved. Or consider the new Crazy Do – if you don’t want to shave your head, stylists can decorate your hair with bright colors, baubles and headbands.

A 5-kilometre and a 10-kilometre run will begin at 10:45. Once you cross the finish line, head over to the splash pad for a free barbecue lunch.

All funds raised by the 4 Wing defence team go directly to the Terry Fox Foundation for Cancer Research. Last year the event raised over $9,000.

The OneMatch Stem Cell and Marrow Network will also be in the Col JJ Parr Sports Centre throughout the day. OneMatch is responsible for finding and matching volunteer donors to patients who require stem cell transplants. Donating is quick and easy. One Match will be on site until 3:30 pm.
