The Courier, half a century later

The Courier

Tomorrow (Wednesday) is the 50th anniversary of The Courier Volume 1 Number 1.

RCAF Cold Lake’s community newspaper made its first appearance on November 22, 1967. Its offices were right where they are today: in the Centennial Centre, also known as Building 67.

Actually The Courier’s very first appearance was shortly after the base opened in 1954, but it didn’t manage to last. It was revived in 1967, giving Cold Lake military personnel and their families a regular vehicle for military and community news.

A lot has changed, obviously, but your current Courier staff is committed to carrying on the great work done by all our predecessors over the past 50 years.
