4 Wing welcomes new CWO

4 Wing’s Remi Nault is on his way to a new position in Ottawa and a new rank as major this week after an official change of command on Friday, June 26.

Nault has been 4 Wing CWO for three years. New CWO at 4 Wing is Lee Darling, who took over the post on Friday as Nault departed following the official ceremony.

CWO Darling is originally from Port au Port, NL. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1989 and embarked in a career as an Aerospace Telecommunications and Information Systems Technician. He has performed maintenance and repair to a variety of transmitters and antenna systems.

After postings in St. John’s and participating in 1997 in the Nijmegen marches in the Netherlands, he was posted in 2005 to Kingston, Ont., where he was an instructor in communications system maintenance. In 2006, he was promoted to Sgt and became an electronics training supervisor prior to becoming the Crypto Training supervisor and finally the acting Troop Warrant Officer.

Promoted in 2010, he remained in Kingston and was posted to a dynamic unit consisting of a split of military personnel and public servants.

Promoted to MWO in 2013 and posted to 42 Radar Squadron in Cold Lake as the Squadron Warrant Officer, MWO Darling enjoyed the challenges of working outside his branch in a deployable, high tempo Tactical Control Radar unit. During this time he completed year long French training and enjoyed deployments to the high-arctic and the Middle-East.

Promoted to his current rank in 2017, CWO Darling was posted to Winnipeg where he worked as the Operations Support Squadron CWO at 17 Wing and was deployed to the Middle-East as the Air Task Force-IMPACT CWO.

Posted back to Cold Lake, CWO Darling has said he is is excited to again be a part of the 4 Wing family.

CWO Darling enjoys all types of outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, kayaking and motorcycling.
