In July during the annual Arctic Buoy drop mission, Cpl Joe Gervais and Master Cpl Marc Lapensee push a large buoy carrying a GPS and enough batteries to last five years from the back of their CC-130 Hercules aircraft to the Arctic icepack below. They are from 424 Transport and Rescue Squadron, based at 8 Wing Trenton, Ont.

RCAF drops meteorological buoys in Arctic

RCAF The second week of July, 2019, was an exciting one for some members of 413 Search and Rescue Squadron as they left 14 Wing Greenwood, Nova Scotia, and headed north for the Arctic Buoy drop. This was the first time 14 Wing had been tasked with this annual mission.
