Mental Fitness and Suicide Awareness

Eligibility: This course is open to the 4 Wing Defence Team, including military and civilian personnel, and family members aged 18 years and older.
Registration: Registration is required to attend the course. Military and civilian personnel require supervisor approval.

- Written proof of approval from Supervisor/CoC; and

*Note that military personnel have priority. Civilian participants may be removed from the course should registrations exceed the maximum number permitted. If the course is full when your registration is received, you will be notified that you have been placed on the waitlist.
Description
This course is designed to promote awareness and skill-building to maximize mental fitness both individually and in the workplace, as well as to lessen the incidence of mental health injuries including deliberate self-injury and suicide.
Topics include:
- mental health injuries and mental fitness;
- stigma;
- the Mental Health Continuum Model;
- how to maintain and improve mental fitness and resiliency;
- how to recognize the signs of a person in distress; and how to help someone having thoughts of suicide to get the help they need through using the ACE Model.
