More than 130 community members gathered to celebrate Father’s Day at a massive, energy-filled backyard bash designed for the military families of 4 Wing Cold Lake.

The event offered a perfect blend of high-energy competition, classic summer treats, and vital community connection.

Feast and Festivities

Families enjoyed a classic summer spread featuring a live barbecue, sweet cotton candy, and themed specialty drinks. The vibrant atmosphere provided a well-deserved day of relaxation and fun for local military members and their loved ones.

Giant Games and Track Races

The celebration brought nostalgic entertainment to life with oversized yard games and traditional field races. Highlights of the day included:

  • Giant Jenga: Towering blocks tested participants’ focus and steady hands.
  • Giant Connect Four: Larger-than-life strategy duels drew enthusiastic crowds.
  • Potato Sack Races: Parents and children hopped their way to the finish line.
  • Three-Legged Races: Duos paired up for fast-paced, hilarious teamwork trials.

Driven by Volunteers and Sponsors

An event of this scale relies heavily on community backing. A dozen dedicated volunteers gave their time to manage game stations, serve food, and keep the energy high.

The successful day was made possible through the generous sponsorship of local businesses, including Tim Hortons, Hamel’s Meats, CANEX, and Wilmie’s.
