A national touring exhibit and documentary film focused on Canada’s military mission in Afghanistan will be on display at the Cold Lake Energy Centre this weekend.
From January 9 to 11, the Cold Lake Energy Centre will host the travelling exhibit “Mission: Afghanistan,” alongside screenings of the documentary film “Fallen Heroes… Their Journey Home.”
The film Fallen Heroes… Their Journey Home will be screened over three days, with the January 9 showing reserved for Canadian Armed Forces members. Screenings on January 10 and 11 will be open to the general public. The film has been promoted by organizers as one that “all Canadians should see.”
The Mission: Afghanistan exhibit is a national touring display featuring more than 450 interviews with Canadian military personnel who served during Canada’s mission in Afghanistan. According to organizers, the exhibit documents personal experiences from those who took part in the conflict, which remains Canada’s longest war.
Both the film and the exhibit were created by Combined Forces Production Collaborative, a Canadian organization that produces projects focused on preserving and sharing the experiences of military service members. The exhibit is touring communities across the country in conjunction with the film screenings.
Organizers say the exhibit and film are intended to be experienced together and encourage members of the community to attend while the presentation is in Cold Lake.
